Via Manzoni
“Project Manzoni”
The project vision
Eighteenth-century nobility on the doorstep of Via Montenapoleone
Set on the corner of Via Manzoni and Via Bigli, in the heart of Milan’s fashion district and a short walk from La Scala and the Duomo, the project envisages the transformation of a portion of the second floor of Palazzo Olivazzi Trivulzio from office to residential use. Dating back to the 1700s, the building retains the hallmarks of Milanese aristocratic architecture: a sober façade with a monumental carriage portal set within a rusticated niche, an inner courtyard framed by Ionic columns and a grand staircase adorned with period stuccowork. During the 1800s it hosted the celebrated salon of Countess Clara Maffei, frequented by Alessandro Manzoni and Giuseppe Verdi, and later became home to the young Albert Einstein and his family. The design turns generous volumes, tall windows and herringbone parquet into residences of rare scale, offering either a single six-bedroom home with library, fireplace lounge and private gym with sauna, or two independent apartments. The scheme addresses demand from international buyers for exceptional homes at one of Milan’s most exclusive addresses.
