Milano, MI Via Ascanio Sforza “21 House of Stories”
The project vision
A former telephone exchange, transformed into an iconic landmark
Set between the historic fabric of the Navigli and the post-war frontage of the Darsena, the asset was redeveloped as the upscale flagship of 21 House of Stories. Built in the 1960s, the building had long been distinguished by an imposing rooftop pylon. The development was managed through a carefully integrated approach, with full accountability across the entire value chain and oversight of every decision. The scope extended from the negotiated early release of the premises and the appointment of the design team to the structuring of the works tender and construction contract, the supervision of construction and the procurement of all authorisations. Following a complete internal strip-out and environmental remediation, the building was converted into a 4-star hotel with food and beverage outlets, event and co-working spaces and a rooftop bar with swimming pool. Integrated creative direction across architecture and interiors gave a building out of scale with its surroundings a distinctive yet measured identity. The hotel has since become a point of reference within Milan’s contemporary hospitality landscape.
